The Rajasthan High Court at Jaipur has directed petitioners to remove royal designations such as “Maharaj” and “Princess” from their names in pending writ petitions.
The direction came in Maharaj Jagat Singh v. State of Rajasthan and the connected matters, Justice Mahendar Kumar Goyal, while hearing the matter, granted one week’s time to the petitioners to file an amended cause title deleting the said prefixes.
The Court made it clear that if the corrected title is not filed within the stipulated time, the writ petitions will stand dismissed automatically, without any further reference to the Court. The bench further directed that upon compliance, the matters would be listed on October 13, 2025, with the revised cause list reflecting the removal of the prefix “Maharaj.”
