The Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), in a unanimous resolution, has terminated the membership of Advocate Rakesh Kishore following an incident of grave misconduct inside the courtroom of Chief Justice of India, Justice B.R. Gavai, on October 6, 2025.
Mr. Kishore, enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi (Enrolment No. D/1647/2009) and a temporary member of the SCBA since 2011, was found to have engaged in reprehensible, disorderly, and intemperate behaviour that the Association described as “utterly unbecoming of an officer of the Court” and a serious breach of professional ethics, decorum, and the dignity of the Supreme Court of India.
The Committee noted that his actions constituted a direct assault on judicial independence and the sanctity of courtroom proceedings, undermining the relationship of mutual respect between the Bar and the Bench.
Consequently, the SCBA resolved to terminate his membership with immediate effect, cancel and forfeit his SCBA membership card, and request the Supreme Court’s Secretary-General to revoke his proximity access card. The resolution will also be circulated among Bar members and relevant authorities for information and record.
Reaffirming its stand, the SCBA stated that it remains committed to upholding the dignity of the judiciary, the honour of the legal profession, and the constitutional values of respect, discipline, and independence that form the foundation of the justice delivery system.
