SCAORA flags technical hurdles faced by AoRs in submitting Online Appearances, Seeks Urgent Reforms

The Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) has written to the Secretary General of the Supreme Court highlighting several pressing challenges faced by advocates in submitting online appearances through the Court’s portal. In its letter dated July 21, 2025, SCAORA pointed out systemic issues such as the morning rush hour logjam before 11:30 AM, non-acceptance of appearances after matters are over, and the inability to edit or modify submissions even in genuine cases.

The Association emphasized that such procedural rigidities cause undue prejudice to advocates and disrupt smooth court functioning. It proposed key reforms, including extending the appearance submission window beyond 1:00 PM, allowing post-call submissions, and enabling edits or withdrawals in exceptional circumstances. SCAORA urged the Court to take immediate steps to streamline the online appearance system in the interest of judicial efficiency and procedural fairness.
