No Prima facie case made out; Delhi High Court Refuses to Stay Release of Udaipur Files

Mohammed Javed v. Union of India [Order dated 7th August, 2025]

Udaipur Files

The Delhi High Court refused to stay the release of the film Udaipur Files, which is based on the killing of Rajasthan-based tailor Kanhaiya Lal. The plea was filed by one of the accused persons in the murder case, seeking a stay on the movie’s release

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela dismissed the interim prayer, stating that the petitioner had failed to establish a prima facie case or demonstrate how the film’s release would cause him irreparable harm.
