Rajasthan High Court at Jaipur directed both the Union and State authorities to ensure effective enforcement of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019 (“Act”).
Respondent submits that while seizures of e-cigarettes and blocking of certain websites had taken place, “much is required to be done.”
Taking note of this, the Division Bench of Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Sanjeet Purohit directed the Director General of Police to constitute a team of officers at range headquarters to oversee implementation, and the Chief Secretary, Rajasthan, to appoint district-level officers of Collector/Additional Collector rank to enforce provisions from Section 6 onwards of the Act. The Union of India was also asked to submit details on website blocking and actions taken against sellers.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on 12 November 2025, with compliance reports from the Union and State authorities to be filed before the Court.
