The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Head Constable of the Delhi Police posted at PS Ashok Vihar while accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh. The case was registered by CBI on 25 August 2025 following allegations that the accused Head Constable, along with a Sub-Inspector and another unknown person, demanded ₹3 lakh from a complainant for not registering an FIR against him.
After negotiations, the demand was allegedly reduced to ₹2 lakh, with the Head Constable instructing the complainant to pay ₹1 lakh as part payment on the same day. Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the Head Constable red-handed on 25 August 2025 while he was demanding and accepting the bribe. He was immediately apprehended.
CBI has stated that further investigation in the matter is underway to identify the role of other persons involved.
The Bureau reiterated its firm stance against corruption in public services and urged citizens to report instances of bribery or demands for illegal gratification by public officials. Complaints can be made at the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch, Delhi, at the CBI Building, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, or via the helpline numbers provided.
