The Supreme Court on Monday directed that the election process for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) be completed on or before June 30, 2026, making it clear that no further extension of time will be entertained.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi also directed the State of Karnataka to publish the final ward-wise reservation notification by February 20, 2026.

During the hearing, Senior Advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the State of Karnataka, submitted that the exercise of notifying reservations would be completed within a month.

Recording the submission, the Court nonetheless clarified that the timelines fixed are final and binding.
