Bombay High Court Orders Status Quo on Media Statements in Lilavati Trust–Param Bir Singh Dispute

Bombay High Court Orders Status Quo on Media Statements in Lilavati Trust–Param Bir Singh Dispute

Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Trust v. Param Bir Singh, Decided on 26.03.2026

Bombay High Court

The Bombay High Court on March 26, 2026 directed both Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Trust & Ors. and former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh to refrain from publishing or republishing allegations against each other in the media, pending adjudication of the interim application.

The order was passed by Justice Milind N. Jadhav while hearing an interim application in an ongoing civil suit between the parties. As part of an interim arrangement, the Court restrained Param Bir Singh from publishing statements forming part of the plaint, including those contained in his email dated February 2, 2026. Correspondingly, the Trust and other plaintiffs were directed not to publish statements complained of by Singh in his affidavit-in-reply.

Clarifying that the directions are without prejudice to the rights and contentions of both sides, the Court permitted the parties to pursue all remedies available in law. The matter is now scheduled to be heard on April 22, 2026.
