The Bombay High Court disposed of a writ petition filed by industrialist Anil D. Ambani, after Canara Bank withdrew its order declaring his company’s account as ‘fraud’. The Division Bench comprising Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Dr. Neela Gokhale recorded the bank’s statement and noted that no further adjudication was required.
During the hearing, counsel for Canara Bank, appearing on instructions, informed the Court that the impugned order dated 8 November 2024, which had declared the petitioner’s company account as fraudulent, stood withdrawn.
Following this submission, the Court recorded that nothing survived in the petition and accordingly disposed the same. The Bench also directed the bank to communicate the withdrawal of the fraud declaration to all relevant authorities.
Senior Advocate Mr. Gaurav Joshi appeared for Mr. Ambani, instructed by Mulla & Mulla & Craigie Blunt & Caroe, while Canara Bank was represented by Advocate Mr. Nishit Dhruva of MDP Legal.
