CBI Arrests Advocate and Judicial Member of ITAT, Jaipur for Indulging in Corrupt Activities

ITAT Corruption Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on November 26, 2025, busted a corruption network involving an Advocate, a Judicial Member, and an Assistant Registrar of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Jaipur, along with other public servants and private persons. The accused were allegedly involved in settling appeals pending before the ITAT Jaipur Bench in favour of certain appellants in exchange for bribes.

The CBI registered a case on November 25, 2025, against the Advocate and other officials associated with the ITAT, including the Judicial Member and Assistant Registrar. The operation led to the arrest of the Advocate on November 25, 2025, while accepting a bribe amounting to ₹5.5 lakh, allegedly routed through a hawala network. The Judicial Member was arrested the following day, on November 26, 2025, along with the recovery of ₹30 lakh from her official car. The appellant involved in the transaction was also taken into custody on the same day.

Multiple coordinated searches were conducted by CBI teams across Jaipur, Kota and other locations, resulting in the seizure of over ₹1 crore in cash, transaction records, property documents, and other incriminating materials indicating the presence of an organised syndicate engaged in influencing quasi-judicial proceedings.

Further investigation by the CBI into this matter is underway.
