On 23 June 2025, the Ministry of Finance notified the Debts Recovery Tribunals and Debts Recovery Appellate Tribunals Electronic Filing (Amendment) Rules, 2025, making electronic filing mandatory for specific pleadings under the Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act, 1993 and the SARFAESI Act, 2002.
The amendment replaces Rule 4 of the 2020 Rules, mandating applicants to file pleadings via the e-DRT portal. A Standard Operating Procedure has also been made available online to streamline compliance. The move aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in debt recovery litigation.
