In a petition filed before the Delhi High Court seeking directions to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) for the expeditious disposal of a contempt petition, a Single Judge Bench of Justice Girish Kathpalia noted that the subject petition was only a month old and dismissed the petition with a cost of Rs. 10,000/- to be deposited within a week.
The petitioner sought the expeditious disposal of a contempt petition, which was not even a month old. The Court noted that even though the petitioner wished for a disposal, he had not even taken the trouble to file copies of the orders passed by the CAT, which indicated laxity in the adjudication of the subject petition.
The Court noted that the subject proceedings were not an original application and that the petitioner was also unaware of the board position of CAT, to justify prioritising his contempt petition over other pending petitions.
The Court found the present petition to be frivolous and not even fit for the issuance of notice.
It was said that this kind of petition unnecessarily drains on the system, which is already overflowing with pending cases, and the Court dismissed the petition with a cost of Rs.10,000/- to be deposited with www.bharatkeveer.gov.in within a week.
