Delhi High Court Grants Time to Respondents in ED Plea Seeking Expunction of Remarks in Excise Policy Case

expunction of adverse remarks plea

The Delhi High Court granted time to respondents to file replies in a plea by the Enforcement Directorate seeking expunction of adverse observations made by a trial court while discharging Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and others in the excise policy corruption case.

Hearing the matter, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma questioned the need for delay, noting that the issue pertains to whether the trial judge exceeded jurisdiction. While ED’s counsel, including ASG SV Raju, opposed adjournment, submitting that respondents were seeking to delay proceedings, the Court permitted additional time after respondents cited the voluminous record.

ED counsel Zoheb Hossain maintained that all parties had already been served. The matter is listed for hearing on 23 July, granting respondents time to file their responses.
