Delhi High Court Directs MCD, Northern Railways to Decide PIL Representation on Public Parking Within 2 Months

The Delhi High Court has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and Northern Railways to take a decision within two months on a representation to be filed by a PIL petitioner raising concerns over the handling and management of public parking spaces.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia was hearing the matter. The PIL highlighted grievances regarding mismanagement of parking spaces under the MCD as well as those maintained by Northern Railways.

Taking note of the nature of the grievances, the Court permitted the petitioner to submit a comprehensive representation to the authorities concerned within two weeks, incorporating all relevant pleas and supporting documents. The Bench observed that such a course would be more appropriate for addressing the issues raised.

The Court further directed that upon receipt of the representation, the authorities must examine the grievances and take an appropriate decision in accordance with law, which must be communicated to the petitioner. It added that if any corrective measures are found necessary, the authorities should implement them.

The matter was accordingly disposed of with a direction that the decision be taken within two months from the date of receipt of the representation.
