The Delhi High Court on 12 September 2025 came down heavily on an advocate with over three decades of practice, for falsely alleging that Justice Saurabh Banerjee was related to a party’s counsel in a contempt case. The allegation had led to the Judge’s recusal order on 29 August, later challenged by the petitioner’s counsel, Vivek Narayan Sharma.
During the rectification hearing, the Court observed that the lady advocate’s conduct was “unbecoming of a lawyer” and warned that such actions send a wrong message to the Bar, especially to young lawyers and interns. The Bench remarked that her licence should be suspended for showing “utter disrespect towards the court” and noted that the conduct amounted to contempt and perjury.
Although ultimately absolving the lady advocate of contempt in its written order, the Court directed her to file an affidavit within a week explaining her conduct. The Judge also expressed surprise that the Delhi High Court Bar Association had extended support to her in the matter.

It is indeed surprising to see the audacity of this advocate! What did she think before linking honourable Justice to the party’s council! Doesnt this prove her guilty in this case as such, considering she stooped to such low level due to lack of argument to fight the case?
