The Delhi High Court on Tuesday admitted an appeal filed by Padmaja Kumari Parmar challenging the dismissal of her petition seeking grant of Letters of Administration in relation to the estate of late Arvind Singh Mewar. A Division Bench comprising Justice Vivek Chaudhary and Justice Renu Bhatnagar observed that the Single Judge erred in dismissing Parmar’s petition and held that her plea ought to have been considered alongside the parallel petition filed by her brother, Lakshayraj Singh Mewar.
The Court noted that both proceedings arise from the same estate dispute and are intrinsically linked. It observed that the outcome of one petition would have a direct bearing on the other, and therefore, they should have been heard, tried, and decided together. The Bench further clarified that if Lakshayraj’s petition based on the alleged will fails, the Court would then have to consider whether Letters of Administration should be granted to Parmar.
The dispute pertains to the estate of Arvind Singh Mewar, a member of the erstwhile Udaipur royal family, who passed away in March 2025. Parmar has challenged the authenticity of a purported will produced by Lakshayraj, alleging that it is suspicious and unjustifiably excludes the deceased’s widow and two daughters. Both parties had filed competing petitions for Letters of Administration, which were transferred to the Delhi High Court by the Supreme Court in December 2026.
Earlier, the Single Judge had dismissed Parmar’s petition, directing her to raise her objections within Lakshayraj’s proceedings. Aggrieved by this, Parmar moved the Division Bench, which has now admitted her appeal and highlighted the necessity of adjudicating both claims together.
