The Delhi High Court has referred a dispute between JioStar India Pvt. Ltd. and Absolute Legends Sports Pvt. Ltd. concerning media and commercial rights of the Legends League Cricket Masters T20 Tournament to mediation, while recording undertakings regarding disclosure of commercial transactions and deposit of receivables.
Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar was hearing a petition filed under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 by JioStar India Pvt. Ltd., seeking ad-interim protection against the respondents from creating third-party rights or otherwise dealing with the media and commercial rights relating to the cricket league.
During the hearing, Sr Advocate Abhimanyu Bhandari appearing for Absolute Legends Sports Pvt. Ltd. informed the Court that the company would file an affidavit disclosing all ongoing commercial transactions, including agreements entered into with the second respondent. The respondents further undertook that the affidavit would be filed by all the directors of the company and would also detail receivables arising from any commercial arrangements entered into by the company.
It was also submitted that any amounts received pursuant to such arrangements would be deposited before the Court in an account to be opened by the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court towards satisfaction of the admitted liability. However, the respondents clarified that such deposit of receivables should not prevent the company from meeting operational expenses necessary for the smooth functioning of its commercial activities.
Noting that both sides were agreeable to exploring settlement, the Court referred the matter to the Delhi High Court Mediation and Conciliation Centre and directed the parties to appear before the Centre through their respective counsel on March 13, 2026. The In-charge of the Mediation Centre was requested to appoint a senior mediator to facilitate the proceedings.
The matter has been listed before the Court on March 17, 2026 for further proceedings.
