The Delhi High Court has quashed the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against NDTV founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy in connection with two CBI cases, observing that continuation of such coercive measures was not justified in the circumstances.
Justice Sachin Datta set aside the impugned LOC while directing the petitioners to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. The Court noted that one of the two CBI cases linked to the LOC has already been closed, while in the other case, the chargesheet is yet to be filed.
Taking these factors into account, the Court held that the LOC could not be sustained, particularly in the absence of any demonstrated necessity to restrict the petitioners’ movement.
However, the relief was made conditional upon the Roys’ continued cooperation with the investigation, ensuring that the probe is not impeded.
