On 22 August 2025, the Executive Committee of the Delhi High Court Bar Association passed a unanimous resolution condemning the notification dated 13 August 2025 issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. The notification had declared video conference rooms in police stations as “designated places” for recording evidence of police personnel/officers through video conferencing.
The Bar Association termed the move as being against the basic tenets of justice and the principle of fair trial, stating that such an arrangement would jeopardise trial proceedings and could adversely impact the outcomes of cases. The Association has demanded that the notification be withdrawn immediately to safeguard fairness in judicial processes.
