The Delhi High Court has declined a request seeking administrative transfer of a criminal revision petition from the Bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma to another Bench, stating that the matter has been assigned as per the existing roster and that any issue of recusal must be decided by the concerned judge.
In a communication issued by the Registrar General of the High Court on March 13, 2026, it was informed that the Chief Justice considered applications filed by eight respondents in Criminal Revision Petition titled CBI v. Kuldeep Singh & Ors., seeking transfer of the matter from the Bench presided over by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma.
The Chief Justice noted that the petition had already been assigned to the Bench concerned in accordance with the prevailing roster of the Court. It was clarified that any request for recusal must be addressed by the judge before whom the matter is listed and cannot ordinarily be decided on the administrative side.
Consequently, the Chief Justice found no reason to pass any order transferring the petition administratively and declined the request for reassignment of the case to another Bench.
