GAIL Hosts Constitution Day Lecture on the Spirit and Significance of the Indian Constitution

The event “Understanding the Constitution of India: Its Spirit and Significance” was held on 20 November 2025 at the MP Hall, GAIL Bhawan, in the lead-up to Constitution Day, celebrated every year on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. The programme aimed to deepen understanding of the Constitution’s foundational principles, spirit, and contemporary relevance.

The session commenced with an address by Shri Ayush Gupta, Director (HR), GAIL (India) Limited, who warmly welcomed all dignitaries and participants. He highlighted the importance of Constitution Day and emphasised the enduring relevance of the Constitution in strengthening democratic values and guiding institutional responsibility.

The programme was chaired by Ld. Additional Solicitor General of India, Shri Chetan Sharma, who delivered an insightful address on constitutional values, institutional balance, and the evolving interpretation of the Constitution within India’s governance framework.

Eminent Supreme Court advocate Shri P. S. Singh delivered an engaging and visually enriched lecture based on the original copy of the Constitution of India. Through chapter-wise explanations supported by corroborative illustrations, he highlighted the framers’ intent, the structural design of the Constitution, and its artistic and historical significance.

Supreme Court advocate Shri Shashank Bajpai further contributed to the discourse by offering nuanced perspectives on constitutional interpretation and key judicial developments shaping India’s legal landscape.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. R. S. Velmurugan, CGM (HR), and Dr. A. Venkatesan, GM (Law), reflecting the organisation’s continued commitment to fostering constitutional awareness among employees.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by GM (Law), Dr. A. Venkatesan, who expressed gratitude to the distinguished speakers, guests, and participants for their contributions to an enlightening and meaningful session.
