In exercise of powers under Article 217(1) of the Constitution of India, the President of India has appointed Justice Mahesh Sharadchandra Sonak, currently a Judge of the Bombay High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

Justice Sonak will assume charge as Chief Justice with effect from the date he takes office, following the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice on 8 January 2026.
