Justice Vibhu Bakhru was formally sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court on 19th July, 2024 at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru. The oath of office was administered by Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by senior judges, government officials, members of the Bar, and other dignitaries.
Prior to this elevation, Justice Bakhru served as a Judge of the Delhi High Court. Known for his clarity in reasoning and balanced approach to commercial and constitutional matters, Justice Bakhru brings with him a wealth of experience to helm the Karnataka judiciary. His appointment was notified earlier this month following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium.
