While hearing a 2017 case regarding sexual assault and gang rape of a famous actress, the Ernakulam Principal District and Sessions Court acquitted Malayalam actor Dileep while convicting six other accused persons.

The convicted persons were found guilty of committing offences under Sections 120B, 342, 354, 354B, 366, 376D of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and under Sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

In February 2017, the actress was abducted and sexually assaulted by a group of men when she was on her way for shooting a film.

The sentence will now be pronounced on 12 December.
