The Kerala High Court has directed the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) to place before it the complete records relating to proceedings of the Board of Adjudication for Students’ Grievances in connection with the November 2024 nursing college incident in which a student died by suicide, allegedly following harassment by classmates.
The Court also directed counsel appearing for the Institute of Nursing Education and the Centre for Professional and Advanced Studies (CPAS) to place before it the files relating to the disciplinary proceedings initiated against the three B.Sc. Nursing students.
The appeal arose from the earlier order of a single-judge bench of the Kerala High Court, which had directed the nursing college authorities to issue Course, Conduct and Transfer Certificates to three B.Sc. Nursing students, who were indefinitely suspended for allegedly harassing the deceased student. The Single judge held that since they had completed their course, those certificates could not be indefinitely withheld on the ground of pending disciplinary proceedings.
Aggrieved by this order, the deceased father approached the division bench to stay the operation of the single judge bench order dated September 23, 2025
Taking note of the submissions, the Division Bench comprising Justices Anil K. Narendran and Muralee Krishna S. directed the University to produce the entire files relating to the grievance redressal proceedings for its perusal. The Court also directed the counsel appearing for the management of the institution to place on record the files relating to disciplinary action initiated against the students.
The matter has been listed for further consideration on February 4, 2026.
