The National Human Rights Commission of India has taken cognisance of a complaint filed by Adv. Vineet Jindal, raising concerns over alleged targeted killings of Hindu civilians and other vulnerable communities in Jammu & Kashmir.
Acting on the complaint, the Commission has issued notice to the Director General of Police, Jammu & Kashmir, seeking a detailed report on the status of investigations, arrests, prosecutions, and compensation extended to the families of victims.
The complaint highlights that several such incidents remain unresolved, citing lack of transparency and accountability in investigative processes. It urges intervention to ensure effective investigation, timely justice, and implementation of preventive measures to curb such targeted violence.
The NHRC is expected to examine the response of the state authorities and take further action in accordance with law, particularly on issues of accountability and rehabilitation of affected families.
