The Government of Punjab has issued a notification abolishing all charges for obtaining copies of First Information Reports (FIRs), making the service free with immediate effect.

The notification, issued by the Department of Good Governance and Information Technology, states that no fees will be levied for downloading FIRs from the Sanjh Portal or for obtaining copies through Sanjh Kendras. Consequently, the earlier provision imposing a service charge of ₹80 for accessing FIR copies has been withdrawn.

The decision comes as a continuation of prior notifications issued in October and November 2025 and aims to improve accessibility and transparency in public services. By removing financial barriers, the government seeks to ensure easier access to FIR documents for citizens across the state.
