Rajasthan High Court initiates criminal contempt proceedings against Bharatpur Lawyers following Sessions Judge’s Reference

In re v. Advocate Tarachand Sharma  [Decided on 30.06.2025]

The Rajasthan High Court comprising Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice Maneesh Sharma, initiated contempt proceedings against advocates Tarachand Sharma and Mohan Swaroop Sharma.

The matter stems from a reference made by the learned Sessions Judge, Bharatpur. Upon examining the contents of the reference, the High Court found a prima facie case to proceed against the two advocates.

Notices have been issued to the respondents, returnable within four weeks. The Court has directed them to either appear in person or through their authorised representatives on 28th July 2025, and file their replies or affidavits explaining their conduct.

The Court has requested the Advocate General to assist in the proceedings. The Registry has been instructed to furnish the relevant documents to his office within a week.
