RGNUL IP moot competition

The Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights (CIIPR), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, is set to organise the 2nd National Intellectual Property Law Moot Court Competition, 2026, building on the success of its inaugural edition.

The competition aims to provide law students with a rigorous platform to engage with contemporary intellectual property disputes, while bridging the gap between academic learning and courtroom practice. Designed to test both substantive knowledge and procedural strategy, the moot focuses on developing practical advocacy skills essential for IP litigation.

Release of Moot Proposition & Guidelines: 20 January 2026

Last Date of Registration: 5 February 2026

Memorial Submission Deadline: 20 February 2026

Results of Memorial Qualifier Rounds: 25 February 2026

Oral Rounds (Offline): 9–10 March 2026

Valedictory Ceremony: 10 March 2026

Competition Format

Each team shall consist of two participants and must submit memorials for both sides of the dispute. Based on memorial evaluation, the top 16 teams will qualify for the oral rounds. The competition will progress through preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and finals, conducted on a knock-out basis.

Memorials and oral submissions will be evaluated by academicians and subject-matter experts in intellectual property law, focusing on legal reasoning, research depth, advocacy skills, and courtroom etiquette.

Awards & Opportunities

Winner: ₹12,000

Runner-Up: ₹8,000

Best Memorial: ₹5,000

Best Speaker: ₹5,000

Top-performing teams will also be considered for internship opportunities.

Registration Fee:

• ₹1,500 (Early Bird till 27 January 2026)

• ₹2,000 thereafter

(exclusive of GST)
