The Supreme Court, on 26 November 2025, disposed of multiple intervention and impleadment applications filed in relation to mining leases located in Randhisar Pahari, Churu, whose leases were restored in March 2025. Recording the submission of counsel for the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) that re-appraisal applications would be considered if such leases had indeed been restored, the Bench of Justice B.V. Nagarathna and Justice R. Mahadevan directed SEIAA to evaluate all applications both by the present applicants and any other similarly placed leaseholders on merits and strictly in accordance with law.
The Court clarified that any party aggrieved by SEIAA’s eventual decision must seek recourse before the National Green Tribunal or the relevant High Court, and not approach the Supreme Court directly.
