In a petition filed before the Supreme Court to challenge the 2023 election of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah from the Varuna Constituency, a Bench comprised of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta issued notice while seeking reply from Siddaramaiah on the same.
Earlier, a voter from the Varuna Constituency had filed a petition in this regard before the Karnataka High Court, alleging that the guarantees made in the party manifesto of the Indian National Congress for 2023 State polls amounted to bribery. However, this plea was dismissed by the High Court.
