The Supreme Court stayed the Kerala High Court’s declaration that the 404.76-acre Munambam property is not Waqf land, directing that status quo be maintained until January 27. A bench of Justices Manoj Misra and Ujjal Bhuyan clarified that the High Court’s approval of the State Government’s move to appoint a one-member Commission of Inquiry into the land’s status and extent remains undisturbed.
The interim order was issued while admitting a Special Leave Petition filed by the Kerala Waqf Samrakshana Vedi challenging the High Court’s verdict.
