SCBA Issues Alert After Advocates’ WhatsApp Accounts Hacked for Fraudulent Money Requests

Advocates warned against fraudulent WhatsApp messages

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on January 28, 2026, issued an urgent alert after several advocates reported that their WhatsApp accounts and mobile numbers were hacked and misused by fraudsters to solicit money from other members. The circular highlighted that at least four members, including Senior Advocate Parthiv Goswami and Advocate Pragya Singh Parijat, had their accounts compromised. Members have been strictly advised not to transfer funds or respond to such messages and to verify any monetary request by contacting the person directly. The SCBA said the alert aims to protect members from financial fraud and to ensure vigilance against cybercrime targeting advocates.
