SCBA Insurance

The Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on 16th September, 2025, proposed that an LIC Group Term Insurance Cover of Rs. 10,00,000/- (10 lakhs) be announced for SCBA members.

The key features of this proposition are as follows:

1. An annual policy, without any premium, would cover all voter members of the SCBA in the last three years until the age of 60, excluding Designated Senior Advocates and other advocates whose gross annual income exceeds Rs. 15 lakhs.

2. Advocates are given the option to opt out of the policy, but those who wish to remain covered are required to submit a declaration stating that their annual income is less than Rs. 15 lakhs.

3. Declarations are to be submitted to the SCBA Office by 25th September, 2025, or sent via email with the member’s name and membership number to scbaecinfo@gmail.com.

4. Advocates whose annual gross income exceeds Rs. 15 lakhs or who are permanent members, though voters, may separately avail of the policy on a payment basis by agreeing to pay an annual premium of Rs. 5,500/- plus applicable taxes.

The Committee through its Secretary Pragya Baghel proposed this at the larger interest of the membership providing a uniform cover for the welfare measure of the Association. It also looked forward to the cooperation of all the members to implement the initiative.
