Supreme Court Denies Bail to UAPA Accused A Day After Red Fort Blast in the Capital

UAPA bail denial

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court heard the bail application in an unrelated matter of a person accused of offences under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) after several people were killed and injured in a car blast near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi yesterday, i.e., on 10-11-2025.

It was argued on behalf of the accused that he had been in jail for over two years, even though no explosive material was recovered from him. However, a Bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta noted that the allegations against the accused were serious.

While Senior Advocate Siddhartha Dave, appearing for the accused, admitted that this was not the best morning to argue the case, the Court replied that it was the best morning to send a message.

The Court further pointed out that inflammatory material was recovered from the accused and that he had formed a WhatsApp chat on which a flag identical to that of ISIS was seen. Thus, the Court declined to grant bail to the accused.
