Supreme Court Quashes Criminal Proceedings Against YouTuber Elvish Yadav in Snake Venom Case

The Supreme Court on Thursday quashed criminal proceedings against YouTuber Elvish Yadav in a case alleging the use of snake venom in video shoots and participation in rave parties where drugs were allegedly consumed. A Bench comprising Justices M.M. Sundresh and N. Kotiswar Singh held that the FIR could not be legally sustained on the limited issues under examination.

The Court clarified that its ruling was confined to two specific legal questions the applicability of Section 2(23) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and the validity of proceedings initiated under Section 55 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
