Supreme Court to Hold Special Vacation Sitting on December 22 for Urgent Matters: CJI

Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant on Friday announced that the Supreme Court will hold a special sitting during the winter vacation on December 22 to hear urgent matters. The CJI said that a decision on the number of Benches to be constituted would be taken after assessing the volume of cases requiring urgent hearing.

The observation was made as several lawyers orally mentioned matters for urgent listing, with the Supreme Court closing for its winter vacation today. Regular court proceedings are scheduled to resume on January 5, 2025.
