Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigns from Office citing health reasons

Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar has formally tendered his resignation as the Vice President of India, with immediate effect, citing health reasons and medical advice. The resignation was addressed to the Hon’ble President of India, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution of India.

In his letter, Shri Dhankhar expressed deep gratitude to the Hon’ble President for her unwavering support and the harmonious working relationship shared during his tenure. He also extended heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers for their invaluable cooperation and guidance throughout his service.

Reflecting on his tenure, he stated,

“The warmth, trust, and affection I have received from all the Hon’ble Members of Parliament will ever be cherished and embedded in my memory.”

He further noted that it had been a privilege to witness and participate in India’s remarkable economic progress and transformative journey, describing his role as Vice President as “a true honor.”

The office of the Vice President now stands vacant pending further constitutional process for succession.
