The Delhi Police has informed Principal District and Sessions Judges across the capital that all trials, enquiries and proceedings under the Sanita, including examination of complainant and witnesses, recording of evidences in enquiries and trials and all appellate proceedings or any other proceeding, may be held in electronic mode, by use of electronic communications or use of audio- video electronic means.
Citing Section 530 and related provisions of the BNSS, the communication notes that trials, enquiries, and recording of evidence can be conducted through electronic means. While the Delhi High Court’s July 2025 notification and a subsequent order by the Lieutenant Governor have paved the way for setting up video conferencing systems in all police stations, the police clarified that material witnesses will continue to be examined physically pending further consultations among various stakeholder.
