The Delhi High Court on August 26, 2025, presided by Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora, heard a Trademark Infringement case involving a popular delivery app “Zepto”. The Plaintiffs, proprietors of the registered trademark “Zepto,” alleged that the Defendants were running a coordinated fraudulent scheme by operating fake job portals, domain names, and social media accounts using the Zepto name and logo. These actions misled the public into making payments under the pretext of securing jobs or franchises. The Plaintiffs placed on record forged letters, fake recruitment postings, misleading emails, and unauthorized websites impersonating Zepto to substantiate their claim of fraud and trademark infringement.
Accordingly, the Court granted an ex parte ad-interim injunction restraining Defendant Nos. 1–7 and 19 from using the Zepto mark or any deceptively similar variants. Further directions were issued to domain registrars to suspend fraudulent websites, banks to freeze the identified accounts and disclose KYC details, social media platforms to remove infringing accounts, and government authorities to block fraudulent phone numbers and websites. The Plaintiffs were also given liberty to implead further infringing entities during the pendency of the suit.
