The Delhi High Court Division Bench comprising Justice Vivek Chaudhry and Justice Renu Bhatnagar has disposed of an appeal filed by Kunal Shukla in a defamation dispute involving Himayani Puri, daughter of Hardeep Singh Puri, directing the parties to pursue appropriate remedies before the Single Judge.
The appeal challenged an order passed by Justice Mini Pushkarna. After hearing the parties, the Division Bench directed that Shukla may file an application seeking vacation of the interim stay, while Himayani Puri would file her rejoinder. The matter has been directed to be listed before the Single Bench on April 23, 2026.
Senior advocates Mahesh Jethmalani, Mohit Mathur, and Pramod Kumar Dubey, appearing for Himayani Puri, raised a preliminary objection on the maintainability of the appeal. They contended that Shukla had concealed material facts and committed perjury by incorrectly stating that no notice had been served upon him in the proceedings before the Single Judge.
The respondents argued that court records clearly reflected the appearance of Shukla’s counsel and acceptance of notice and summons, thereby contradicting the claims made in the appeal.
On the other hand, Shukla was represented by Senior advocates Vikas Singh and Sudhir Nandrajog who pressed the appeal before the Division Bench.
Without entering into the merits of the controversy, the Court disposed of the appeal with procedural directions, effectively restoring the matter to the Single Judge for further adjudication.
