The Bar Bulletin functions as an independent legal journalism platform. All editorial decisions are taken free from external influence, including political, commercial, institutional, or personal considerations. Editorial judgment is exercised solely in the interest of accuracy, fairness, and public understanding of the law.

  1. Scope of Coverage

The Bar Bulletin publishes content relating to:

  • Judicial decisions of the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, tribunals, and

international courts.

  • Legal developments, statutory amendments, and regulatory changes.
  • Arbitration, commercial law, constitutional law, criminal law, and allied fields.
  • Legal commentary, explainers, and expert opinion.
  • Developments affecting the legal profession, judiciary, and rule of law.
  • The platform does not publish sensational, speculative, or unverified material.

 

  1. Accuracy and Verification

Accuracy is a foundational principle of The Bar Bulletin.

  • All reports on court proceedings and judgments are based on official orders, authenticated court records, or reliable first-hand sources.
  • Legal analysis and opinion pieces must be grounded in verifiable legal material, including statutes, case law, and established principles.
  • Reasonable efforts are made to cross-verify facts before publication.
  • Errors, if identified, are corrected promptly and transparently.

 

  1. Distinction Between News and Opinion

The Bar Bulletin maintains a clear distinction between:

  • News Reports: Objective, factual accounts of legal developments without personal opinion through live hearings or confirmation with the Advocates.
  • Analysis / Commentary / Opinion: Clearly labelled pieces reflecting the author’s legal interpretation or viewpoint.
  • Opinion pieces do not represent the institutional position of The Bar Bulletin.

 

  1. Attribution and Plagiarism
  • All sourced material must be properly attributed.
  • Plagiarism, including unattributed reproduction of judgments, articles, or analysis, is strictly prohibited.
  • Contributors must ensure originality of content or clearly acknowledge sources.

 

  1. Corrections and Clarifications- If an error or omission is brought to the editorial team’s notice:
  • The issue is reviewed promptly.
  • Corrections or clarifications are published clearly and without concealment.
  • Substantive corrections are indicated transparently.

 

  1. Submissions and Contributions
  • Guest articles and expert contributions are subject to editorial review.
  • The editorial team reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, length, style, and legal accuracy without altering substantive meaning.
  • The Bar Bulletin may decline publication without obligation to provide reasons.
  • Provide sources and references to the article.
  • The Article should be minimum 1000 words and should have proper referencing.
  • The Bar Bulletin does not accept more than two (2) authors for any single article.

 

  1. Conflict of Interest

Editors and contributors are expected to disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including professional involvement in matters being written about. Content may be declined or appropriately disclosed where conflicts arise.

  1. Use of Artificial Intelligence

AI tools, if used for research or drafting assistance, are employed responsibly. Editorial oversight ensures that all published content meets standards of accuracy, originality, and legal reliability.
