The Delhi High Court has directed the restoration of a satirical X (formerly Twitter) account named “Dr. Nimo Yadav,” while allowing certain tweets flagged by the Central government to remain temporarily blocked.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav passed the order, balancing the petitioner’s right to operate the account with the government’s concerns over specific content deemed objectionable.
The Court ordered that the flagged tweets be placed under a temporary blocking category, clarifying that the account itself should be restored. It further directed the account operator to appear before a Review Committee, which will examine whether the identified tweets warrant continued blocking.
“The alleged objectionable tweets stated in the blocking order be put under temporary blocking category. The petitioner’s account be restored,” the Court observed, while granting liberty to the Government of India to monitor future content.
The Court added that if any further objectionable material is posted, the government would be free to take action in accordance with law.
