Delhi High Court Saturday sittings protest

The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA), through a notice dated 2 April 2026, has resolved to abstain from work on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month in protest against the Delhi High Court’s decision mandating court sittings on these days.

The Executive Committee, noting that repeated representations seeking reconsideration have not yielded any response, highlighted serious practical difficulties faced by advocates, including disruption of professional schedules, appearances before other forums, and reduced preparation time.

The Bar has requested members to cooperate with the decision starting 4 April 2026, while also informing that proxy counsels would be designated for court appearances on those days. It has reiterated its request to the High Court to reconsider the notification mandating Saturday sittings.
