PechaKucha-Style Arbitration Conference Marks 4th VIAC-CAN Congress in Vienna

PechaKucha Arbitration Conference Vienna

At the 4th VIAC-CAN Congress held in Vienna on 13 February 2026, a standout session titled “VIAC CANversations: VIAC’s 20×20 Vision” adopted an unconventional PechaKucha format to examine emerging issues in international arbitration.

Designed as a rapid-fire exchange, each speaker presented 20 image-based slides advancing automatically every 20 seconds, limiting presentations to six minutes and forty seconds. The format demanded precision, eliminating discursiveness and compelling speakers to distil complex developments into clear, practice-focused insights.

The session was moderated by Arush Khanna, VIAC Ambassador for India and Partner at Numen Law Offices, New Delhi. Under his moderation, the discussion moved briskly across themes shaping contemporary arbitral practice, including the procedural integration of artificial intelligence, third-party funding, sanctions-related enforcement challenges in the CEE region, and ESG-linked investor–state disputes.

Speakers included Haowen (Daisy) Chen, Emilie Pardoen, Fëllënza Limani, Eveli Lume, and Rumen Cholakov; each delivering tightly structured presentations within the strict time parameters. The session formed part of the broader Congress programme, which convened members of the VIAC Community Ambassador Network to assess evolving market trends and institutional strategy.

By combining format innovation with substantive analysis, the 20×20 panel demonstrated how structured dialogue can sharpen debate on arbitration’s most pressing developments.
