Supreme Court Issues Circular Against Spitting of Pan Masala, Gutka on Premises

Supreme Court ban on spitting

The Supreme Court of India has issued a circular cautioning building users against the practice of chewing pan masala, gutka, tobacco and spitting the residue in corners, washbasins and drinking water facilities within the Court premises.

The circular notes that such unhygienic practices lead to blockage of water facilities, pose a risk of infections, and cause inconvenience to other users of the building. Emphasising the need to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, the Registry has impressed upon all concerned to strictly refrain from spitting tobacco products within the premises and to cooperate in keeping the Supreme Court premises clean and tidy.
