The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim bail to Shwetambari Bhatt, wife of film director Vikram Bhatt, in connection with a multi-crore cheating case registered in Rajasthan. Issuing notice on the petition challenging the Rajasthan High Court’s refusal of bail, a Bench led by the Chief Justice observed concerns over the manner in which criminal proceedings appeared to have been invoked.

The Court ordered Shwetambari Bhatt’s immediate release on interim bail, while also impleading the complainant, Ajay Murdia of Indira IVF, as a respondent. The matter will be taken up for further hearing next week.
