The Supreme Court has issued a tender inviting bids for hiring an agency to manage the persistent monkey menace at the residential bungalows of judges, the Supreme Court premises, and the official guest house.

According to the bid document dated April 2, 2026, the Court seeks to engage an agency for a period of two years to deploy trained personnel tasked with driving away monkeys from designated areas. The services will extend to approximately 35-40 residential bungalows located within a 10-kilometre radius of the Court, along with the main premises and guest facilities.

The selected agency will be required to provide around 100 personnel experienced in handling and repelling monkeys, with deployment based on requirement. The work must be carried out in compliance with applicable animal welfare laws, including the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

The tender process has been initiated through the GeM portal, with bids to be submitted by April 23, 2026. The Court has also prescribed eligibility criteria, including prior experience in providing similar services to government bodies and a minimum turnover requirement.
