A Delhi court has granted four weeks’ interim bail to accused Ritik Bajaj in an alleged international drug cartel case, citing the medical exigency arising from his father’s scheduled surgery and the need for post-operative care.
Special Judge (NDPS) Kuldeep Narayan of the Central District, Tis Hazari Courts, passed the order in FIR registered at the Special Cell Police Station under Sections 8(c), 20, 21, 25, 27A and 29 of the NDPS Act, along with Sections 209 and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Ritik Bajaj sought 12 weeks’ interim bail citing his father’s scheduled prostate surgery on October 30 and the need for post-operative care. He also cited his mother-in-law’s recent ovarian cancer surgery and his wife’s spinal surgery. Opposing bail, the prosecution argued that his father’s care could be managed by other relatives or professional attendants.
However, after examining the medical records, which were verified by the Investigating Officer, the Court found the medical circumstances sufficient to warrant interim relief. Observing the necessity of his presence for his father’s treatment and recovery, the Court held:
“
“In the given facts and circumstances and owing to the medical exigency as demonstrated, in my considered opinion, the presence of the applicant/accused is necessary to take proper medical care of his father including admission for surgery, supervision, follow-ups and post operative care.”
The Court accordingly granted Ritik Bajaj interim bail for four weeks from the date of his release, till November 28, 2026, on furnishing a personal bond of ₹1 lakh with two sureties of the like amount.
The Court directed him to surrender before the jail authorities by 5 PM on November 28, 2026. It further restrained him from leaving the country without prior permission, influencing witnesses or tampering with evidence.
