The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of NCT of Delhi and Raheja Developers Ltd. on a plea filed by the Kaathputhli Residents Welfare Association seeking the shifting of around 2,800 families from the transit camp at Anand Parbat to flats constructed for them at Kaathputhli Colony.

The petitioners submitted that the families have been living in the transit camp and waiting for rehabilitation since 2014, despite the flats at Kaathputhli Colony having been completed. The petitioners alleged that the delay in shifting the eligible allottees has prolonged their stay in the transit accommodation. The DDA, however, disputed the claim regarding completion of the flats, with its counsel stating that instructions on the issue were not available.

The Court consequently directed the DDA to verify whether the flats have been completed and, if so, to commence the process of shifting the eligible allottees.

The Court also addressed concerns regarding basic civic amenities at the transit camp. On the petitioners’ plea, it directed the respondents to ensure that electricity, water and sanitation services are not disrupted due to any inter-se dispute between the DDA and the developer.
